Dance Notes The Grace Trilogy, The Father of Lights and The River is Here can be performed independently or as a trilogy based upon the Trinity. I have created these three pieces to show that dance can be used to reveal aspects of the Gospels and the Bible in a refreshing and unique way. The lyrics to the songs are expositions of the Bible truths regarding the Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit. I hope these expositions touch the hearts and minds of both Christians and non-Christians alike bringing them closer to God. When I dance I do an introduction in which I discuss aspects of the song and dance similar to the content of these narrations. I do it so people can understand the moves and what meaning and feelings they are meant to convey and also because it is a personal testimony of my Christian faith. The truths found in the lyrics can be found to be biblically based. In the case of “The Father of lights” the writer of the song actually states which verse of the bible the song is based upon (see References for Bible references). As a Christian I have received many gifts which fill my heart with Joy and celebration. The Son, The Holy Spirit and the reassurance of being a daughter in his family are some of the gifts focused on within these three songs. There are many gifts of God which, when I contemplate on them, produce gladness and gratefulness in my heart. The gift of salvation through Jesus, the gift of sonship/daughtership with the Father and the gift of the indwelling spirit are the ones joyfully celebrated in these songs. Christianity has much that brings joy and shows how real it is in lives of Christians. Dance is indeed a powerful vehicle in which God can be revealed. The rich gifts and treasures can be explained clearly and more fully through the visual art of dance and can be used in a powerful way to reach others. To demystify dance and give an example of how dance can be used both as an outreach tool and church-building tool was my purpose.
